Beta 1.4 Release - Side Quests and Bad Karma

- There is now an entire alternate "bad karma" ending. The player can earn bad karma in numerous scenes, and some scenes will play out differently if the player has enough bad karma. This can lead to an entirely different showdown and different epilogue.
- Added multiple optional scenes that largely take place at night. They are kind of hidden and accessed by going a little off from the main route. I consider these side quests. One of them is a somewhat short lewd scene with Jasmine.
- There are some other new scenes throughout the game, some longer than others. I don't want to just list them all because it's kind of a spoiler.
- Added achievements! There are eleven in the game and they have their own screen accessible from the main menu or the pause menu after you've unlocked at least one. There's actually twelve achievements listed but one hasn't been written yet, and is marked as such.
- Cynthia, Jasmine, and some other characters now have sprites that can look at each other as appropriate, instead of just staring blankly at the player all the time. Cynthia, Jasmine and Kate have some other facial expressions as well.
- Added an option in the game preferences called "compatibility mode." If you turn on compatibility mode, every instance of special characters like "é" will be replaced with a normal "e" or equivalent. The likelihood that anyone will actually need this option right now is pretty low, but I'm worried that sometime in the future a player will try to play this game and see the word "pokémon" spelled like "pok&♯232;mon" or "pok�mon" over and over, making the game un-fucking-readable. Compatibility mode will hopefully prevent that.
Changes:
- Based on player feedback, I slightly adjusted the conditions for which allies show up to help in the hotel. It can be either Red or Shawn, depending on who you've met. Previously, the game always picked Shawn if you've met both of them. Now you can tell Shawn to go way.
- Once again fixed an issue stemming from Cynthia running out of things to talk about at the end of the day. Thank you to ajanisapprentice for pointing this one out. Cynthia now has more things to say and the conversation topics are partially randomized so the player doesn't see the same thing in the same order on every playthrough. She has so much to say now that you can't see it all in one playthrough.
- The player can also skip chat scenes with Cynthia at the end of any day, but not on their first playthrough of the game. There's still no reason why you would want to skip chatting, but I figure it's like skipping a cutscene in a video game that you've already played. So if you want to skip, go ahead.
Minor things:
- Adjusted capitalization for proper names of pokemon, like Gyarados and Magnemite. I decided to just always capitalize the name, as if it's a proper noun. You could make the argument that pokemon names are like species names (like "chimpanzee" or "elm tree") and should not be capitalized, but I finally decided that they just look better if they're always capitalized. I have no actual style guide to support this decision, it is purely an aesthetic choice. I also made capitalization of things like "Pokémon League," "ranger school," or "alpha pokemon" more consistent throughout the game. I might've missed some.
- When picking out TM's for Metang, I removed the option to "try to decide for yourself" because it didn't actually give the player a choice and there's no way in hell implementing the ability to pick from 40+ different moves. Instead you can either ask for Cynthia's opinion or Metang's opinion.
- The threshold to get the lewd scene with Cynthia at the end of day 5 has been lowered slightly. The police officer no longer erroneously calls her "your lover" even if your love isn't high enough.
- Previously, the narration described a poster in Jasmine's bedroom. I decided to actually make the poster and edit it into the background of that scene.
- Cleaned up a couple sprites, including the Hiker npc and the bouncer at the bar. I also gave up on cleaning up the sprite for Betsy and just redrew her from scratch. Now she has two different poses, too.
- Changed Lapras' Ice Beam attack to be Blizzard instead.
- Made some minor edits to Cynthia's team composition in the showdown. I didn't realize Elektross is supposed to be like six feet tall.
- Changed every instance of the word "pokemon" to "pokémon." All 1282 of them.
Known issues:
- When Cynthia and Jasmine go running out into the storm, the next scene shows them wet from the rain. But in a different scene, when Cynthia and Kate go out into the storm, the "wet" sprites aren't used at all. This is because I forgot to get a wet sprite for Kate and it looked dumb to have Cynthia wet and Kate normal. This will be fixed once I have a wet Kate sprite.
- On day 5, you have the option to talk to Kate about Houndoom and she talks about being attacked by it even if that's not what happened. Will be fixed next update.
- The lewd scene with Jasmine is short because I only had one piece of art to use for it. (Technically it's one image with six variations) I might make it longer once I have more art to use. I actually have a second piece of art ready, but it didn't really fit, so I'll either need some more art to make the two flow together, or I'll use that one in another scene. I haven't decided.
- Cynthia's two lewd scenes are still using stolen art. The artist I commissioned to replace those hasn't gotten back to me yet.
- In the bad karma showdown, the options to "sow dissent" don't lead to anything. I haven't decided how I want this to go but it'll probably be an alternate ending to the bad karma ending. It hasn't been written yet.
- Cynthia still basically begs you to come to Sinnoh regardless of your love stat, as long as you aren't on the bad karma ending. You can be a real jackass and still end up sailing off into the sunset with her... I'm going to change this but it means writing several new scenes and I didn't want to keep everyone waiting even longer.
